NEWorks Productions and the March on Washington Film Festival, in association with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Washington National Opera, partnered on February 4, 2016 to present a private screening of Cry, the Beloved Country, the acclaimed 1995 movie adapted from Alan Paton's classic same-titled book. This screening was hosted by His Excellency Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu, Ambassador of South Africa to the United States.

Cry, the Beloved Country was presented in support of the Washington National Opera's Lost in the Stars, running at the Kennedy Center from Friday, February 12 through Saturday, February 20, 2016, starring renowned Bass-baritone Eric Owens.
