NEWorks Productions is proud to announce auditions for its premiere sister ensembles: NEWorks Voices of America (NVoA) and NEWorks Voices of Inspiration (NVoI). Both groups are comprised of singers from diverse musical and cultural backgrounds, and each perform a wide variety of music, including both secular and sacred genres.
NVoI is a select group that has been featured in performance at The White House, the United States Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Theatre, and on select stages nationally and internationally.
NVoA is a community-based chorus that has performed for the NBA All-Star Game, the National Anthem (recording); the Washington, D.C. leg of the Andrea Bocelli World Tour (2017, 2015); the Democratic National Convention, performances with Carole King and Lenny Kravitz (2016); and other local, highly celebrated and honorable events.
Both ensembles are founded and directed by Nolan Williams, Jr., composer, producer and musician.
We seek talented, highly-motivated, hard-working, dedicated, and collaborative vocalists of all voice types who reside in the D.C. metropolitan area. Auditions will take place in two rounds. Round one consists of an online application (see below). Round two will be an invitation-only, in-person audition to be scheduled on Sunday, February 24 or Sunday, March 10, 2019.
To apply for consideration, complete the entry form below. PLEASE NOTE: NOT ALL APPLICANTS WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR AUDITIONS. OUR TEAM WILL REVIEW ALL APPLICATIONS AND NOTIFY THOSE WHO QUALIFY FOR AN AUDITION. For more information, please email email@example.com.
AUDITION ROUND 1. Complete the following entries.
AUDITION ROUND 2 is invitation-only. If selected, here's what to prepare / what to expect... Prepare two songs of contrasting style that best showcase your vocal technique, range and interpretive skills. Be warned: you may be asked to sing both pieces in their entirety, one selection or an excerpt of one or both -- this decision is left purely in the hands of the adjudicator. Expect to sing a range of exercises that evaluate your sense of pitch and ear. Also, EXPECT TO SIGHTREAD AT LEAST ONE MUSIC SCORE!! So, if it's been a while since you've read music, we strongly encourage you to brush up on your reading.
In terms of song choice, you have a bit of latitude here. The main thing to keep in mind is this: select music that you sing well! Be prepared also to sing with or without accompaniment. Oh yeah, and be flexible in case -- after all is said and done -- you're asked to simply sing a common song like "Happy Birthday" or "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star!"
