The national tour of STIRRING kicked off at Vanderbilt University's Langford Auditorium on Friday, February 28, 2020. Regretfully, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all remaining tour dates have been cancelled until further notice. Hopefully, these compelling images from the Nashville performance will inspire all of us to anticipate the day when we can convene again in theatre spaces to experience transformative art together.(PHOTO CREDIT: Quentin Cox, courtesy of Vanderbilt University)

Conceived by American composer Nolan Williams, Jr., STIRRING THE WATERS... combines captivating music, spoken word and dance with stunning visuals to highlight seminal moments from the Movement from 1954 to 1968, connecting the past with the present.

"Electrifying. Awakening. ...Exquisitely bold and utterly holy"

-D.C. Metro Theatre Arts

"STIRRING THE WATERS... should be seen throughout the country. It's an impeccably woven work, piecing together the history of America and current day events with beautiful music and text. I can't wait to see it again and again!"

-ARIEL DAVIS, Program Manager, Social Impact, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

"Georgetown University has had the honor of working with Nolan Williams for more than a decade and is proud that musical works commissioned by the university are featured in his inspirational production STIRRING THE WATERS ACROSS AMERICA."
-MARY HAINES, Director of Protocol and Events, Georgetown University

"Through its images, music, dance, and overall narrative, STIRRING THE WATERS... offers a multi-sensory, inspiring experience that... is brilliant, stunning, and stirring... [It] links the past to the present, while offering a solution-oriented blueprint for an improved future. Williams and his team have set the mark high and America is better off for it!"
